Annie is a successful lawyer who returns to her hometown to spend Christmas with her family. She is devastated to learn that their family-owned restaurant, The Starlight Café, is at risk of being demolished by a development firm led by William. To make matters worse, William is the estranged son of the family's former lawyer.
William surprises Annie with an unlikely proposition. He will spare the café if she poses as his legal counsel for a week. Although Annie is skeptical of the proposal, she wants to do everything she can to save the café. In doing so, she spends more time with William, getting to know him as they work together.
As they spend time together, Annie realizes that William is not as focused on demolishing the café as he first appeared to be. They begin to work together to find a different solution that will benefit both parties. They also begin to develop feelings for each other, but Annie knows that her family will never forgive her if they find out the truth about her fake legal counsel role.
The holiday season approaches, and the two continue to work together to save The Starlight Café. They are met with several challenges along the way, but their love for each other and determination to save the restaurant keep them going. In the end, they come up with a plan that will satisfy both William's development firm and Maggie's family. As Christmas Eve arrives, the town comes together to celebrate the reopening of The Starlight Café. William and Annie share a kiss under the mistletoe, and the two start to build a new life together.
