The main character, Tory Bell, is a former bounty hunter who has left her dangerous and exciting life behind to become an elementary school teacher in Washington D.C. Tory's life takes an unexpected turn when she is asked to return home for Christmas to help save her family's failing bounty hunting business by catching the one target who got away.
Upon arriving at home, Tory is forced to confront her past, including her relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Mike, who is also a bounty hunter.
