Jennifer is a successful crime beat reporter who has no interest in the holiday season. However, she is given a task to cover a story on the true meaning of Christmas. Jennifer initially scoffs at the idea but is reminded of her own sad past during the holiday season.
To figure out the true meaning of Christmas, Jennifer goes undercover as a department store sales clerk from Black Friday to Christmas Eve. She is assigned to work the 9 to 5 shift and is forced to interact with customers and co-workers alike. Initially, she struggles to blend in, but eventually, she discovers that spreading holiday cheer makes the work more enjoyable.
As Jennifer spends more time in the department store, she meets the man of her dreams, Ryan. Ryan is a long-time employee of the store who is enthusiastic about the holiday season.
