Choke is based on the novel of the same name by Chuck Palahniuk and follows the story of Victor Mancini, a sex addict who works at a colonial theme park and pretends to choke on food in restaurants to get sympathy money from the patrons. Along with his best friend Denny, Victor tries to track down his estranged mother in hopes of finding answers about his past.
Amidst his chaotic life, Victor meets Paige Marshall, a mysterious and enigmatic woman who seems to have connections to his past. Their relationship becomes more complicated as it is revealed that she is also involved with a sadistic serial killer who preys on young women. As the lines between reality and fiction blur, Victor finds himself caught up in a web of lies and deception, unsure of whom to trust.
Meanwhile, a nihilistic detective named John Lord tries to solve the string of murders committed by the serial killer, but his own demons and inner turmoil hinder his investigation.
