As the story unfolds, we see Warren, played by Glenn Maynard, going about his daily routine of driving his ice-cream van on the streets of a suburban Australian town. He spends most of his time alone, with only his loyal dog for company, and has no real friends or social interactions.
Warren’s only escape from his mundane and lonely life is his obsession with Katey George, played by Kyrie Capri. Katey is a soap starlet whom Warren watches on his beloved old TV set day and night, and he has an intense infatuation with her.
As Warren’s obsession with Katey grows, his mental state becomes more and more unstable. His behaviour becomes increasingly erratic and he begins to experience violent outbursts.
When Warren discovers that Katey is scheduled to make a personal appearance in his town, he becomes determined to meet her and make his dreams a reality.
Chocolate Strawberry Vanilla is a dark and unsettling exploration of the psyche of a deeply disturbed and lonely individual. The film consists of tense and uncomfortable scenes, that slowly build to a shocking and unexpected finale.
