Cherry is a 2021 American crime drama film directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, based on the novel of the same name by Nico Walker. The film stars Tom Holland as a young man named Cherry, who grows up in Ohio and falls in love with a woman named Emily (Ciara Bravo). Cherry joins the U.S. Army as a medic and is deployed to Iraq, where he witnesses the horrors of war. On his return home, Cherry suffers from PTSD and becomes addicted to OxyContin.
Cherry's addiction causes him to lose his job, and he starts robbing banks to pay off his drug dealer. Emily, who is studying to become a teacher, supports him throughout. As Cherry's addiction worsens, he becomes more reckless in his robberies, and the couple's relationship begins to deteriorate. Cherry eventually gets caught by the police and is sentenced to prison.
