Cheech & Chong's Next Movie is a 1980 comedy film directed by Tommy Chong. It is the second movie to feature the stoner duo Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong after the success of their first film, Up in Smoke.
The movie follows Cheech and Chong as they meander through various adventures in Los Angeles. Cheech gets fired from his job as a film projectionist and the two friends soon find themselves broke, wandering the streets and causing trouble wherever they go. They then decide to visit Donna, Cheech's girlfriend who works at the welfare office, hoping to get some financial aid. However, the two friends get thrown out of the office and left to fend for themselves.
Cheech and Chong embark on a series of humorous misadventures, including smoking marijuana, setting fire to a stranger's car, accidentally starting a fire in a hotel room, and stealing from a bank. They even visit a movie set and become extras in a film.
As they try to find a new source of income, Cheech's cousin "Red" Mendoza arrives in town. Red is a drug dealer who believes that Cheech and Chong are competition. He tries to eliminate them but fails due to their foolish antics. In the end, they all get arrested and thrown in jail.
