Oilcloth Travels with Tony's Cathedrals

Comedy  France

Charlie and His Two Chicks is a French comedy film directed by Joël Séria and released in 1973. The film stars Jean-Pierre Marielle as Charlie, a middle-aged man who has recently lost his job and is struggling to find employment. He meets Ghislaine and Josiane, played by Christine Dejoux and Valérie Mairesse respectively, who are in a similar situation. The three of them decide to go on a road trip together, selling oilcloth as a way of making money.

The trio gets along well, and their journey is full of laughter and adventures. They travel through different towns and markets, meeting new people and making friends along the way. However, their harmony is disrupted when they meet Tony, played by Jacques Dutronc. Tony is a seller of miniature cathedrals and is portrayed as a smooth-talking ladies' man. He joins Charlie and his chicks on their journey, and soon becomes the focus of Ghislaine and Josiane's attention.

As the story progresses, Charlie begins to feel left out and ignored by Ghislaine and Josiane. He is jealous of Tony's charisma and charm, and tensions arise between the group. Despite the growing conflict, the four of them continue to travel together until they reach the end of their journey.

Charlie and His Two Chicks is a lighthearted and entertaining film that explores themes of friendship, love, and jealousy. It features a talented cast of actors who deliver excellent performances, and is considered to be one of the most notable French comedy films of the 1970s.
