Centurion is a 2010 action-adventure film directed by Neil Marshall and starring Michael Fassbender, Olga Kurylenko, and Dominic West. The movie takes place in Roman-occupied Britain in A.D. 117. The story revolves around Quintus Dias (Michael Fassbender), the last surviving soldier of a Pictish raid on a Roman frontier fort. He joins General Virilus' (Dominic West) legendary Ninth Legion, which is tasked with wiping out the Picts from the face of the earth and killing their leader, Gorlacon.
As the Legion advances into the heart of Pict country, they are ambushed and decimated by the Picts, leaving only a handful of survivors, including Quintus and the General's second-in-command, Thax (JJ Feild). The remaining soldiers must find their way back to Roman territory, pursued by the vengeful Picts, who are intent on slaughtering them all.
The survivors eventually encounter a Pictish warrior woman named Etain (Olga Kurylenko), who is out for revenge against the Romans for killing her family. She hunts the soldiers one by one, using her expert tracking skills and lethal combat techniques. Quintus and Etain find themselves drawn to each other, despite being on opposite sides of the conflict.
The movie features intense battle scenes, expertly choreographed fight sequences, and stunning landscapes of the Scottish wilderness. It also examines themes of loyalty, honor, and survival in the face of overwhelming odds.
