The young American couple, Matt and Naomi, are on a research trip to Norway, driving through the arctic mountains in their rented SUV. After a night of heavy snowfall, they wake up to find their vehicle buried under several feet of snow and ice. With no means of communication and dwindling food and water supplies, they must find a way to survive in the harsh and unforgiving environment.
As the days pass, tensions rise, and the couple begins to question each other's motives and secrets. Matt, a writer struggling with writer's block, begins to obsess over his latest manuscript, while Naomi, a journalist, tries desperately to find a way out.
