Action,Drama,Thriller  France,United Kingdom,United States of America,South Africa

"Catch a Fire" is a historical biographical drama set in South Africa during the apartheid era. The movie is directed by Phillip Noyce, with a screenplay written by Shawn Slovo and starring Derek Luke, Tim Robbins, Bonnie Henna, and Mncedisi Shabangu.

The movie follows the story of Patrick Chamusso, played by Derek Luke, who lives with his wife and family in the township of Secunda. He is a foreman at the local synthetic fuel plant, where he has worked for several years. Despite his job, Patrick is apolitical and avoids involvement in politics. However, with the increasing oppression and violence of the apartheid regime, he is forced to confront his non-political stance.

One day, the South African police, under the leadership of Nic Vos (Tim Robbins), arrests Patrick, accusing him of being involved in a bombing attempt at the fuel plant. Despite his innocence, Patrick is brutally tortured and interrogated. The pain and suffering that he experiences at the hands of the police turn him into a radical insurgent.

After he is released, Patrick becomes involved with the African National Congress (ANC), a political organization fighting to end apartheid in South Africa. He is trained in sabotage techniques and, along with his comrades, carries out several successful attacks on government and economic targets.

The movie is a compelling and often heart-wrenching account of the political struggle in South Africa during apartheid. It highlights the brutal repression of the government, the bravery of anti-apartheid activists, and the individual struggles that people had to endure in their fight for freedom and justice.
