Castle in the Ground

Drama  Canada

The film Castle in the Ground, directed by Joey Klein, centers around the character of Henry (Alex Wolff), a teenage boy who is struggling to cope with the death of his mother. While mourning her loss, he forms an unlikely friendship with his next-door neighbor, Ana (Imogen Poots), who is charismatic but deeply troubled.

As the opioid epidemic begins to grip their small town, Ana's addiction spirals out of control, and Henry finds himself drawn into a world of drugs, violence, and danger. Despite his initial reluctance, he becomes more and more involved in Ana's life, even as he begins to see the toll that addiction is taking on her and those around her.

Throughout the course of the film, Henry and Ana's relationship becomes increasingly fraught and complex, as they both struggle with their own demons and try to find ways to navigate the difficult landscape of addiction and recovery. Along the way, they encounter a variety of other characters, including drug dealers, doctors, and other addicts, all of whom help to paint a stark and often heartbreaking portrait of a community caught in the grip of a devastating epidemic.
