Castaway on the Moon is a 2009 South Korean film directed by Lee Hae-jun. The movie stars Jung Jae-young as the protagonist Kim Seong-geun, and Jung Ryeo-won as Kim Jung-yeon, the young woman who discovers him.
The movie opens with Kim Seong-geun attempting to end his life by jumping into the Han River. However, he miraculously survives and finds himself stranded on Bamseom, a small island in the middle of the river. With no means of escaping the island, Kim is forced to adapt to his new life and starts growing vegetables and catching fish to survive.
As he spends more time on the island, Kim begins to find joy in his new way of life and becomes more content. He even builds himself a small shelter and starts keeping a diary to record his daily activities. Meanwhile, Jung-yeon becomes fascinated with Kim's island and starts observing him through her binoculars. She soon becomes obsessed with Kim and starts leaving him food and supplies on the riverbank, hoping to establish a connection with him.
Eventually, the two characters meet and form an unlikely friendship. Jung-yeon helps Kim by providing him with necessities, while Kim helps Jung-yeon overcome her own personal issues. As their friendship blossoms, the two start to develop feelings for each other.
