Cass is a biographical drama film released in 2008, directed by Jon S. Baird. It's based on the true story of Cass Pennant, a former football hooligan and a notorious figure in the West Ham United football club's firm, the Inter City Firm (ICF).
The film begins with the young Cass, who is a mixed-race Jamaican baby, being abandoned by his parents and sent to live in an orphanage in Kingston, Jamaica. Later, he is adopted by an elderly white couple and brought up in an all-white area of London, where he faces racism and bullying from his peers.
As Cass grows up, he becomes a talented footballer and joins a local team, which takes him to the heart of the West Ham United Firm. Cass's football skills and natural leadership abilities make him a respected member of the ICF, and he soon rises through the ranks to become their leader.
However, Cass's involvement in hooliganism and his violent lifestyle eventually catch up with him, and he finds himself facing serious criminal charges. Cass decides to turn his life around, and with the help of a prison chaplain, he starts to educate himself and becomes an anti-racist campaigner.
