Casino Royale is a 2006 spy film and the 21st installment in the James Bond film series. It stars Daniel Craig as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond, and is based on Ian Fleming's 1953 novel of the same name. The film is directed by Martin Campbell and written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, and Paul Haggis.

The movie opens in Prague, where James Bond is on a mission to retrieve a stolen suitcase full of money. He also eliminates the man responsible for the theft and corrupt officials involved in the scheme. Returning to MI6 headquarters in London, M promotes Bond to the rank of 00 agent, with the license to kill. He is tasked with stopping Le Chiffre, who is planning a terrorist attack with the funds he intends to win at the high-stakes poker game in Montenegro.

In Montenegro, Bond's cover is blown by the beautiful and enigmatic Vesper Lynd, who has been sent to assist him. Despite their initial animosity, they work together to infiltrate the game. Bond is pitted against several experienced players, including Le Chiffre himself. The game is tense and intense, with high stakes and dangerous opponents.

Le Chiffre resorts to cheating and Bond is poisoned, but he survives and ultimately wins the game. However, Vesper is kidnapped by Le Chiffre's thugs and held for ransom. Bond tracks them down and confronts Le Chiffre, but he is interrupted by a mysterious figure who kills Le Chiffre and his henchman.

Bond and Vesper leave Montenegro and return to London, where they fall in love. However, their happiness is short-lived, as Vesper is revealed to have been working with the terrorist organization all along, and had agreed to hand over the winnings to them in exchange for Bond's life. Bond races to stop them, but ultimately fails to save Vesper, who takes her own life to protect Bond.

The movie ends with Bond vowing to continue his work as an agent, despite his grief and the loss of Vesper.
