Comedy  United Kingdom

Carry On Dick is a British comedy film released in 1974, directed by Gerald Thomas and produced by Peter Rogers. It is the 26th movie in the Carry On film series, and features a star-studded cast including Sid James, Barbara Windsor, Kenneth Williams, Joan Sims, Bernard Bresslaw and Hattie Jacques, among others.

The film is set in the 18th century, when notorious highwayman Dick Turpin (Sid James) is causing havoc in the countryside near the village of Upper Dencher. Captain Fancey (Kenneth Williams) and Sergeant Jock Strapp (Jack Douglas) are determined to catch him, but their efforts are hampered by the bungling of their deputy, PC Jock (Peter Butterworth).

In an attempt to catch Turpin, Fancey and Strapp enlist the help of the local vicar, the Reverend Flasher (Frankie Howerd), who is known for his bravery and courage. However, they soon discover that the reverend has a secret double life as a highwayman himself, adding to the confusion and chaos.

Meanwhile, Madame Desiree (Barbara Windsor) and her troupe of exotic dancers, the "Birds of Paradise," arrive in Upper Dencher and set up a show at the local inn. This attracts the attention of both the locals and the villains, leading to a series of hilarious misunderstandings and mistaken identities.

As the plot thickens and the comedy ensues, Carry On Dick delivers a witty and entertaining portrayal of 18th-century England, full of laugh-out-loud moments and classic comedic performances.
