Carry On Abroad

Comedy  United Kingdom

Carry On Abroad is a British comedy film released in 1972. The movie is set in the Spanish resort of Elsbels, which is a newly built hotel. A group of British holidaymakers, including Sid James, Joan Sims, Kenneth Williams, Charles Hawtrey, Barbara Windsor, and Bernard Bresslaw, visit the resort for a four-day holiday.

On arrival, they realize that the hotel is still under construction and only half-built. The weather is also terrible, with non-stop rain throughout their holiday. To add to their disaster holiday, the holidaymakers notice the hotel staff all look very similar, leading them to suspect something suspicious is going on.

Amidst all of this, the tourists try to enjoy their holiday but find their patience tested at every turn. Unsurprisingly, they are all irritated by the staff who seem to be working for a sinister purpose. Meanwhile, they also discover that the rain has caused the hotel's foundations to become weak and destabilized.

As the holidaymakers grow more and more exasperated, hilarity ensues, and they decide to take matters into their own hands to get back at the hotel's unhelpful staff. The film culminates in a chaotic final sequence as the hotel falls apart in a crazed sequence of events.

Overall, Carry On Abroad is a prime example of the unbeatable British humor and plays on the comedy of errors that you might expect from a film of its nature. Despite its predictably silly plot, the movie is a timeless classic that still generates hearty laughter four decades after its release.
