Drama,History  Italy

Capri-Revolution is a drama film directed by Italian filmmaker Mario Martone. The movie is set in the summer of 1914, just before Italy joins World War I. In this time of turmoil and upheaval, a group of young artists from Northern Europe decides to establish a commune on the idyllic island of Capri, where they can live and work in peace.

The commune attracts a diverse group of people, including Russian exiles led by the famous writer Maxim Gorky, who are preparing for an upcoming revolution in their home country. The local community is bemused by the arrival of these unconventional artists and intellectuals, but they soon begin to integrate into the community.

Lucia, a young Capri girl, is particularly drawn to Seybu, the charismatic leader of the commune, and Carlo, a young doctor who arrives on the island to work at the local clinic. As Lucia becomes increasingly involved with the artists and their way of life, she begins to question her own beliefs and values.

Meanwhile, tensions are rising across Europe as the war looms ever closer. The artists on Capri are divided in their opinions about the conflict, with some advocating pacifism and others eager to fight for their respective countries.

Capri-Revolution is a visually stunning film that explores the complexities of human relationships and the clash of different ideologies against the backdrop of a rapidly changing world. It is a powerful testament to the enduring appeal of Capri as a haven for free thinkers and nonconformists.
