Capote is a 2005 biographical film directed by Bennett Miller and written by Dan Futterman. The film depicts the story of Truman Capote (played by Philip Seymour Hoffman) and his research and writing of the book, In Cold Blood.
The film begins with Capote at a party in New York City where he meets the Clutters, a wealthy family from Kansas. After reading about their brutal murder in the newspaper, Capote travels to Kansas to investigate the story with his childhood friend and fellow writer Harper Lee (Catherine Keener).
As he conducts interviews with the townspeople and the killers, Richard “Dick” Hickock (Mark Pellegrino) and Perry Smith (Clifton Collins Jr.), Capote becomes emotionally involved in the case and develops a relationship with Perry.
