The movie is a comedic satire of adventure films, feminism, and environmentalism. Margo Hunt (played by Shannon Tweed) is a feminist professor who is recruited by the U.S. government to go on a mission to the avocado jungles of California to prevent an avocado shortage caused by the Piranha Women, an all-female tribe who believe men are only good as a source of food.
Margo is accompanied by Jim (played by Bill Maher), a guide of questionable competence, and Bunny (played by Karen Mistal), a student of unquestionable incompetence. Along the way, they encounter various obstacles, including a rival professor (played by Adrienne Barbeau) who is also seeking to contact the Piranha Women and a male biker gang who seeks to exploit the women for profit.
Despite the challenges, Margo and her team eventually reach the Piranha Women's village and begin to understand their unique way of life. Margo ultimately convinces the Piranha Women to share their avocado crop, thus preventing the avocado shortage and establishing a new harmony between men and women.
Throughout the film, there are moments of humor, including puns, slapstick, and satirical criticism of social and political issues. The movie is a campy, absurd, and entertaining adventure that highlights the importance of environmentalism, gender equality, and social justice.
