Bruce Campbell, a young Englishman, inherits a vast tract of land in the Canadian Rocky Mountains which has been named "Campbell's Kingdom" after his grandfather. A veteran geologist, his grandfather had spent his life searching for oil, but had failed to find any viable deposit before his death. Campbell goes to the kingdom to search for oil and prove the potential earning capacity of his land, as he has been diagnosed with a terminal illness.
Campbell arrives in the village of Come Lucky, where he meets the locals and makes friends with a young girl, who inspires him to continue his search for oil. However, his scientific team led by Doctor Sorenson, a geologist, are unable to locate any significant oil reserves.
Meanwhile, Owen Morgan, the owner of a hydroelectric dam, is constructing a large dam in the village of Come Lucky. The dam is intended to provide electrical power for nearby communities, but will require the flooding of Campbell's Kingdom, guaranteeing that there will be no oil exploration or drilling in the area.
Campbell and his team race against time to find oil reserves before the dam construction is completed. The locals and workers from the dam rally around Campbell, understanding the importance of his search. Eventually, with help from the locals, Campbell and his team are successful in locating a major oil reserve.
However, before they can hope to exploit the discovery, they must first fight off Morgan and his thugs, who attempt to take over Campbell's territory and destroy his drilling equipment.
