California Suite is a comedy-drama film released in 1978, directed by Herbert Ross and written by Neil Simon. The film takes place in the luxurious Beverly Hills Hotel and follows the stories of four sets of guests, each facing their own personal misadventures.

In the first segment, Hannah Warren (played by Jane Fonda) and her ex-husband William (played by Alan Alda) are meeting up to discuss the custody of their teenage daughter. In the final segment, two friends, Bill and his friend from Chicago (played by Richard Pryor) are in town for a conference. After a night of partying and drinking, Bill wakes up to find a prostitute in his bed, leading to a series of hilarious misunderstandings and miscommunications.

Throughout the film, the guests interact with each other and the hotel staff, including the charming and efficient hotel manager, played by Herb Edelman.
