Cadillac Records is a biographical drama film directed by Darnell Martin and released in 2008. The movie tells the story of Chess Records, a Chicago-based record label that was responsible for launching the careers of some of the most influential musicians of the 1950s and 1960s.
The film begins with the arrival of Leonard Chess (played by Adrien Brody) in Chicago in the late 1940s. Chess is a Polish immigrant who sees an opportunity to make money by recording the blues music that is popular among African Americans in the city.
