Cadillac Records is a biographical drama film directed by Darnell Martin and released in 2008. The movie tells the story of Chess Records, a Chicago-based record label that was responsible for launching the careers of some of the most influential musicians of the 1950s and 1960s.

The film begins with the arrival of Leonard Chess (played by Adrien Brody) in Chicago in the late 1940s. Chess is a Polish immigrant who sees an opportunity to make money by recording the blues music that is popular among African Americans in the city. He recruits a talented guitarist named Muddy Waters (played by Jeffrey Wright) and helps to launch his career.

Other musicians who are signed to Chess Records include Little Walter (Columbus Short), Howlin' Wolf (Eamonn Walker), and Chuck Berry (Mos Def). The film shows how these musicians struggled with racism and prejudice both inside and outside the music industry. It also explores the complex relationships between the musicians, particularly the rivalry between Waters and Little Walter.

In addition to the musical performances, the film also explores the personal lives of the characters. This includes Chess's affairs with several of the female singers on his label, including Etta James (Beyoncé Knowles), who struggles with drug addiction and an abusive relationship.

Overall, Cadillac Records is an engaging and well-acted film that provides insight into the early days of rock and roll and the struggles of African American musicians in a racially divided society.
