Cadet Kelly is a 2002 Disney Channel Original Movie starring Hilary Duff as the titular character. The film follows Kelly Collins, a free-spirited and hyperactive teenager who is forced to transfer to a military school when her mother remarries and her new stepfather becomes the Commandant of the school.
Initially, Kelly has trouble adjusting to the rigid rules and structure of military life, and clashes with her stepfather, Major General Joe "Sir" Maxwell (played by Gary Cole). She also struggles with making friends and keeping up with the academic and physical demands of the school.
However, after joining the school's drill team, which is led by her rival, Captain Jennifer Stone (played by Christy Carlson Romano), Kelly begins to find her footing and gain the respect of her peers and superiors. She also develops a burgeoning romance with a fellow cadet, Brad Rigby (played by Shawn Ashmore).
As the school prepares for a major drill competition against a rival school, Kelly's loyalty and dedication to the drill team and the school is tested. Along the way, she learns valuable lessons about discipline, teamwork, and leadership.
The film was directed by Larry Shaw and written by Gail Parent and Michael Walsh. In addition to Duff, Cole, Romano, and Ashmore, it also stars Aimee Garcia, Linda Kash, Nigel Hamer, and Andrea Lewis.
