By No Means is a drama film that centers around a married couple named Vera and Hannes. Hannes is a successful businessman who travels frequently, leaving Vera alone at their home in Vienna. While Hannes is away, Vera longs for companionship and seeks fulfillment from her friend and neighbor, Alex.
During one of his travels, Hannes brings home an antique glass vase from Asia, which holds sentimental value to him. However, one day the vase shatters, leading to a series of events that unravel the marriage between Vera and Hannes.
The fracture in the marriage is further heightened when Hannes discovers that Vera has been having an affair with Alex. As their relationship deteriorates, the couple begins to question their love for each other and the commitment they made to their marriage.
The fracturing of the marriage also leads Vera to become reacquainted with her past self and uncover her true desires and motivations, including her passion for music.
Towards the end of the film, the shattered vase becomes a symbol of the broken marriage, with a replica of the vase serving as a clue for the couple to rediscover their love and repair their relationship.
