Butterflies is a 2018 Turkish drama film directed by Tolga Karaรงelik. The story follows three siblings who are brought together after the death of their estranged father in a small village in central Turkey. Despite never having met before, the three strangers quickly learn that they share a father and must confront the legacy he left behind.

The eldest sibling, Cemal, is a successful businessman who has long felt abandoned by his father. He arrives in Turkey with a bitter resentment towards his father, but gradually learns to let go of his anger and reconnects with his Turkish heritage. The middle sibling, Kenan, is an introverted professor of literature who feels a strong connection to Turkey despite having grown up in Germany. He uses the trip as an opportunity to reconnect with his roots and heal the wounds of his relationship with his distant father.

The youngest sibling, Suzan, is a rebellious young woman who has been estranged from her father for years. She is initially reluctant to attend the funeral, but eventually decides to join her brothers in Turkey. Over the course of their time in the village, Suzan discovers the truth about her father's past and comes to accept her family for who they are.

As they come to terms with the loss of their father, the siblings also learn about the complicated legacy that he left behind. They discover that their father was not the man they thought he was, and that his actions had far-reaching consequences for the people he left behind. Through their journey, the siblings come to understand each other and themselves, and find a sense of closure and belonging that they had long been searching for.
