Grave Robbers Turned Killers

Comedy,Thriller  United Kingdom

Burke & Hare is a 2010 British black comedy film directed by John Landis and starring Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis. The film is based on the true story of William Burke and William Hare who, in the early 19th century, made a living in Edinburgh by selling corpses to a local medical school for dissection. However, when they run out of fresh bodies, they turn to murder to keep their business going.

As the two bumbling criminals become increasingly adept at killing, they attract the attention of the cunning and unscrupulous anatomist Dr. Robert Knox (Tom Wilkinson), who is willing to pay top dollar for bodies. Meanwhile, Burke falls in love with a beautiful actress named Ginny (Isla Fisher), who unwittingly becomes caught up in their murderous scheme.

As the body count rises and the police become suspicious, Burke and Hare find themselves in ever more dangerous situations and must find a way to keep their gruesome operation afloat. The film is a darkly humorous and irreverent take on a fascinating true story and features a talented cast of British actors.
