Buchanan Rides Alone is a 1958 Western film directed by Budd Boetticher and starring Randolph Scott, Craig Stevens, and Barry Kelley. The film is based on the novel The Name's Buchanan by Jonas Ward.

The story takes place in a small border town in Mexico where a Mexican man, Juan de la Vega, is about to be hanged for a murder he did not commit. However, Buchanan, a Texan cowboy (played by Scott), arrives in town and discovers that the real killer is a prominent family, the Agry family, who are determined to see Juan hang for the crime.

Buchanan gets involved in the conflict between the Agry family and the Mexican sheriff and takes on the powerful family single-handedly. He is aided in his efforts by a local saloon owner, Amos Agry (played by Stevens), who becomes sympathetic to Juan's plight.

Despite being outnumbered and outgunned, Buchanan manages to outsmart and outfight the Agry family and saves Juan from the gallows. Along the way, he also uncovers a conspiracy involving land-grabbing and corruption.

Buchanan Rides Alone is known for its tight script, stark cinematography, and sparse dialogue. It is considered one of the best Western films of its time and a classic of the genre.
