In Bubba Ho-tep, we see Elvis Presley (played by Bruce Campbell) living out his days in complete obscurity, hidden away in a small Texas nursing home. Here, Elvis is suffering from a range of health problems, including a growth on his pecker and a bad hip.

One day, while lying in bed, Elvis hears screams and knows that something horrible has happened in the facility. When he investigates, he discovers that a mummy has risen from the dead and is now preying on the other residents. As the only able-bodied person in the home, Elvis takes it upon himself to save the day.

Elvis is approached by a man who claims to be John F. Kennedy (played by Ossie Davis), who explains to him that he was not assassinated in 1963, but rather was subjected to a secret government plot that involved swapping his brain with that of a black man. Now, he has ended up in the same nursing home as Elvis, and together, they set out to defeat the mummy and save the residents.

The mummy, it is revealed, is an ancient Egyptian who has come to the nursing home to feed on the souls of its inhabitants. Elvis and JFK use their wits and some unconventional weapons to take down the mummy, including a walker with shotgun attachments. In the end, they succeed in saving the day and become heroes to the nursing home residents.
