Shadows of Fate: A Deadly Evening

Comedy  Poland

Brunet wieczorową porą (evening brown-haired) is a Polish psychological thriller film directed by Wojciech Solarz. The movie starts with a modest editor, Piotr (played by Krzysztof Banaszyk), who is trying to relax in his house outside Warsaw after sending his wife and kids away for the weekend. While taking a walk in the park, he meets a Gypsy woman who offers to read his fortune. She suddenly tells him that he will murder a mysterious brunet at evening time.

Piotr is initially skeptical about the forecast, but his calm evening soon turns into a nightmare as he becomes increasingly paranoid and anxious about the prediction. He begins to see brunets everywhere he goes, but cannot identify the mysterious person he is supposed to kill. This leads him down a dark path of obsession and fear, as he becomes more and more convinced that he will commit this heinous crime.

As the evening wears on, Piotr's mental state deteriorates further, and he becomes more and more unstable. He starts to question his own reality, unsure whether the brunets he sees are figments of his imagination or real people. Eventually, he finds himself face to face with the mysterious brunet, and the film reaches its suspenseful climax.

The movie features a strong performance from Banaszyk, who effectively captures the descent into madness of his character. The cinematography is also noteworthy, using a desaturated color palette and shadowy lighting to create a mood of tension and unease. Overall, Brunet wieczorową porą is a gripping and thought-provoking psychological thriller that keeps the audience on the edge of their seat until the very end.
