Bruce Almighty is a 2003 American comedy film directed by Tom Shadyac and written by Steve Koren, Mark O'Keefe, and Steve Oedekerk. The film follows the story of Bruce Nolan, a television reporter in Buffalo, who feels that his life is going nowhere. He constantly complains about his circumstances, blaming his problems on others, and dreams of being an anchor on live TV.

After a particularly grueling day at work, Bruce has a meltdown and curses God for his misfortunes. To his surprise, God appears in the form of a janitor and offers to give Bruce all of His powers to see if he can do a better job. Bruce accepts the offer and quickly goes about using his new powers for his own benefit, including manipulating his girlfriend, getting revenge on his rival at work, and even altering the news.

However, Bruce's actions have unforeseen consequences, and as he realizes the true extent of his power, he becomes increasingly responsible for the well-being of the world around him. Ultimately, Bruce learns that with great power comes great responsibility and that his true purpose is to use his talents to help others.

The film stars Jim Carrey as Bruce Nolan, alongside Jennifer Aniston as his girlfriend, Grace Connelly, and Morgan Freeman as God. The movie received mixed reviews but was a commercial success, grossing over $484 million worldwide. A sequel, Evan Almighty, was released in 2007, which starred Steve Carell as the title character.
