Broken Star follows Markey Marlowe (Analeigh Tipton), a young actress whose career is on the decline due to her bad behavior on and off set. After fighting with her agent, Markey is left alone, with no job and no one to turn to. In a desperate attempt to regain her standing in Hollywood, she accepts an offer to house-sit a luxury duplex in the suburbs of Los Angeles.
Upon arriving, Markey meets the landlord, Daryl (Tyler Labine), a reclusive and eccentric man who warns her to stay away from the guest room upstairs. Ignoring his warning, Markey discovers a hidden camera in her room and realizes that she is being watched. Daryl admits to spying on her, claiming that he needs to protect her from the enemies who are seeking to harm her.
As Markey continues to stay in the house, she becomes increasingly isolated and paranoid, unsure of who she can trust.
