Comedy  United Kingdom

Bright Young Things is a 2003 British drama-comedy film written and directed by Stephen Fry, based on the novel Vile Bodies by Evelyn Waugh. The film explores the lives and struggles of the young, wealthy, and fashionable elite in London during the 1930s.

The main character, Adam Fenwick-Symes (played by Stephen Campbell Moore), is a struggling writer and a member of the Bright Young Things circle. He is in love with Nina Blount (played by Emily Mortimer), a beautiful and wealthy socialite who is engaged to the arrogant and snobbish Ginger Littlejohn (played by James McAvoy). Adam and Nina secretly plan to marry once Adam's book is published, but when he fails to secure a publisher, they must find another way to raise the money.

Adam's friends, including the flamboyant Miles Maitland (played by Michael Sheen) and the reckless Agatha Runcible (played by Fenella Woolgar), lead lives full of wild parties, drugs, and affairs. However, their hedonistic lifestyles begin to unravel as they face the consequences of their actions.

Meanwhile, a political crisis erupts in Europe, signaling the impending outbreak of World War II. The once carefree and superficial Bright Young Things are forced to come to terms with the harsh realities of life and mortality.

The film features a star-studded cast, including Jim Broadbent, Stockard Channing, Dan Aykroyd, and Peter O'Toole, and received generally positive reviews for its witty script and stylish production design.
