Fatal Sensory Recorder

Science Fiction,Thriller  United States of America

Brainstorm is a 1983 science fiction film directed by Douglas Trumbull. The movie stars Christopher Walken, Natalie Wood, and Louise Fletcher.

In the film, Michael Brace (Christopher Walken) and Karen Brace (Natalie Wood) are research scientists who work for a company called ConSec that develops technologies for the military. The Braces have invented a device called "the Hat," which can record and playback sensory experiences.

The technology is initially used for military purposes, but the Braces begin to explore its potential for recreational use. They conduct experiments on themselves to record things like the sensation of flying or the experience of being in love. The recordings are so lifelike that they can induce the same sensations in anyone who listens to them.

However, things take a dark turn when one of the scientists, Lillian Reynolds (Louise Fletcher), becomes the first person to record her own death. In the process, she experiences the most intense sensations she has ever felt, and the recording becomes a dangerous and addictive drug for those who listen to it.

The death of Natalie Wood, who played Karen Brace, during the filming of Brainstorm in 1981, added to the film's macabre reputation. The movie was the last in which she appeared.
