Drama,Music  United States of America

Bound for Glory is a 1976 biographical film that portrays the life and struggles of the American folk singer, songwriter, and social activist, Woody Guthrie. The film is based on Guthrie's autobiography of the same name.

The film begins in the early 1930s when Guthrie (played by David Carradine) leaves his hometown of Okemah, Oklahoma to find work during the Great Depression. He travels to California, where he witnesses the harsh living conditions of migrant workers and the struggling families affected by the Dust Bowl. As Guthrie travels across the country, he begins to write songs about the people and places he encounters, becoming one of the most influential musicians of his time.

Throughout the film, Guthrie's politics and social activism are portrayed, including his involvement with the labor movement and his concern for injustice and inequality. The film also explores Guthrie's personal life, including his relationships with his wife Mary and his close friend and fellow musician, Cisco Houston.

Bound for Glory is directed by Hal Ashby and features a soundtrack of original Guthrie songs, as well as music performed by Carradine and other cast members. The film was well-received by critics and earned two Academy Awards, including Best Cinematography.
