Bottom of the 9th is a drama film released in 2019. Directed by Raymond De Felitta and written by Robert Bruzio, the movie stars Joe Manganiello as Bobby Stano, SofÃa Vergara as his girlfriend, and Denis O'Hare as the judge who sentences him for the crime.
The plot revolves around Bobby's struggle to adjust to life outside the prison walls after serving his thirteen-year sentence. Initially, he wants to reconcile with his girlfriend but finds out that she has moved on and has a son from another relationship. He also faces challenges in finding a job due to his criminal record and the reluctance of people to give him a second chance.
As Bobby tries to put his past behind him, he's also haunted by guilt and the memories of the night that changed his life. He reconnects with his childhood friend, played by Michael Rispoli, who's now a coach of a local baseball team. Through his friend's encouragement, Bobby starts playing baseball again, hoping to make amends for his past mistakes. But things are not so simple, as his past seems to follow him everywhere. His former gang members from the neighborhood want him to pay for the incident that led to his imprisonment. On top of that, Bobby's newfound baseball talents attract the attention of a scout from the major leagues. This puts him in a dilemma, as he has to choose between pursuing his dreams or staying true to his values.
Bottom of the 9th is a heartfelt and emotional story about redemption, second chances, and the power of forgiveness. It's a reminder that no matter how far one falls, it's never too late to pick oneself up and start again.
