Mina, played by actress Sofia Black-D'Elia, is a college student living in London with her adoptive parents. One day, while returning from class, she discovers her entire family has been brutally murdered. A group of men then attempt to kidnap her, but she manages to escape and goes on the run.
As she investigates the reason behind her family's death, she discovers that she is actually the daughter of a notorious terrorist leader in the Middle East. The group of men who tried to kidnap her were actually working for her biological father, who wants her to return to him.
Mina teams up with a former British soldier, played by actor James Frain, to evade her pursuers and figure out a way to stop her father's plans. Along the way, she learns about her true identity and the dangerous world that she was born into.
Born Of War is a tense thriller that explores the themes of identity, family, and terrorism. It was directed by Vicky Jewson and released in 2014.
