In Border Run, protagonist Sophie (Sharon Stone) is a hard-hitting journalist known for her investigative reporting. When her brother James (Billy Zane) goes missing in Mexico, she sets out on a dangerous mission to locate him. As she delves deeper into the seedy underbelly of the border region, she uncovers a web of corruption and human trafficking that extends from small towns to the highest levels of government.
Sophie's journey is both physical and emotional, as she confronts not only the drug cartels and violent criminals she encounters along the way, but also her own personal demons. Her determination to find her brother leads her to cross paths with a variety of characters, including a sympathetic Mexican investigator named Marco (Manolo Cardona) and a ruthless cartel boss named Miguel (Miguel Rodarte).
Throughout the film, director Gabriela Tagliavini portrays the harsh realities of life on the border, where poverty, violence, and corruption are the norm. Border Run is a tense, suspenseful thriller that sheds light on the urgent issues of human smuggling, immigration, and the ongoing struggles of those who live and work along the border.
