The movie Boogeyman, released in 2005, follows Tim as he struggles to come to terms with the traumatic events he experienced as a child. After witnessing his father's disappearance into a mysterious closet, Tim develops a debilitating fear of the dark and the creature he believes is responsible for his father's death – the Boogeyman.
As an adult, Tim (played by Barry Watson) returns to his childhood home to confront his fears and the creature that haunts his nightmares. He soon discovers that the Boogeyman may not be a figment of his imagination after all, as he begins to experience supernatural occurrences and encounters with the monster.
Tim's journey to face his fears and uncover the truth about his father's disappearance leads him down a dark and terrifying path. Along the way, he meets other individuals who have also been plagued by the Boogeyman and must work together to overcome their shared trauma.
The film, directed by Stephen Kay, received mixed reviews upon its release but has since become a cult classic among horror fans. It spawned two sequels, Boogeyman 2 (2007) and Boogeyman 3 (2008), although neither were well-received critically.
