Benoit Brisset's murder is the latest in a string of murders that appear to be connected to the world of hockey. The two detectives initially clash due to their different approaches to policing. Bouchard, a francophone Québécois, is laid-back and unorthodox in his methods, while Ward, an anglophone Ontarian, is more by-the-book and traditional.
As they investigate, they uncover a conspiracy involving a wealthy businessman who is using hockey to smuggle drugs across the border. The detectives ultimately team up to take down the criminals, with Bouchard's street smarts and local knowledge complementing Ward's technical expertise.
Along the way, they also grapple with their own personal issues. Bouchard is dealing with the recent death of his wife, while Ward struggles to balance his work with his family life. Despite their differences, they develop a deep respect for each other and work together to solve the case.
The movie features a mix of English and French dialogue, with subtitles provided for non-French speakers. It was the highest-grossing Québécois film of all time upon its release in 2006, and spawned a sequel, Bon Cop Bad Cop 2, in 2017.
