In the movie Body Slam, M. Harry Smilac is a sleazy music manager. He is frustrated with his career and finds it difficult to book gigs for his struggling band, Kicks. One day, he meets a wrestler named Rick Roberts and mistakes him for a musician. Harry is impressed with Rick's looks and physique and offers to manage him.
Initially, Rick is hesitant about the idea, knowing nothing about the music industry. But Harry convinces him that wrestling and music have a lot in common, and they can create a new form of entertainment. With the help of Tonga Tom, another wrestler, Harry forms a tag team with Rick and starts booking them for wrestling matches.
Despite initial setbacks, the tag team becomes popular, and Harry's career starts to soar. He decides to take the wrestlers and the band on a "Rock n' Wrestling" tour, which turns out to be a huge success. Along the way, they encounter a rival wrestling promoter who wants to sabotage their tour.
The movie stars Dirk Benedict as Harry and features cameos from several wrestling stars of the 1980s, including Roddy Piper, Captain Lou Albano, and the Wild Samoans. The film is a campy comedy that combines wrestling and rock music, two popular forms of entertainment in the 1980s.
