Boardinghouse is a 1982 horror movie directed by John Wintergate. The movie follows the story of a young man named James who, after inheriting a boardinghouse from his deceased uncle, decides to turn it into a photography studio for bikini models. Things start to take a dark turn when a malevolent force known as "The Geek" begins to terrorize the women in the house.
The special effects in the movie are notoriously low-budget and amateurish, with some scenes involving obvious model airplanes and fake blood smeared on walls. The movie's sexploitation elements have also been criticized as being exploitative and sexist, with many scenes featuring gratuitous nudity and sexual objectification of the female characters.
Despite its shortcomings, Boardinghouse has developed a cult following over the years for its unintentionally funny dialogue, bizarre plot twists, and cheesy special effects. It has been released on DVD and Blu-Ray, and is a popular choice for late-night movie screenings and MST3K-style riffing sessions.
