The beach bum in question is Dwight Evans, played by actor Macon Blair. His peaceful existence in a run-down car along the Delaware coast is shattered when he learns that the man who killed his parents is being released from prison. Dwight is spurred into action and sets off for his childhood home, a suburban community where his sister and her family still reside.
There, he breaks into the now-abandoned family home and retrieves a rusty revolver, his only weapon for his planned revenge. However, things quickly go awry when Dwight confronts his parents' murderer and botches the assassination attempt. Fleeing the scene, he finds himself pursued by the man's violent family, who are determined to exact their own revenge.
As the tension mounts and the violence escalates, Dwight must turn to his estranged sister Sam (Amy Hargreaves) for help. With her family under threat, Sam reluctantly agrees to assist Dwight in his fight against the vengeful killers. Together, they must navigate the murky world of organized crime and family loyalty to survive.
