Blue Jasmine is a 2013 American drama film written and directed by Woody Allen, stars Cate Blanchett in the titular role. The movie is set in both New York City and San Francisco and follows the story of Jasmine French, a wealthy socialite, who is forced to move in with her sister Ginger (Sally Hawkins) after her husband, Hal (Alec Baldwin), is arrested for fraud and financial misconduct.

As Jasmine tries to rebuild her life, she struggles to come to terms with her new reality. She is haunted by memories of her opulent past, and her once-pristine facade begins to crumble as she faces the harsh realities of life outside of the upper crust.

Jasmine's narcissistic tendencies and manipulative behavior soon become evident, causing turmoil and chaos in her own life and those around her. Her relationship with her sister becomes increasingly strained, and her attempts to start over in a new relationship with a wealthy businessman (Peter Sarsgaard) only lead to further complications.

Through the course of the movie, Jasmine's past and present collide, leading to a devastating climax that leaves her reeling and uncertain about the future. The film is a poignant exploration of class, privilege, and the price of deception, and has been hailed as one of Allen's most compelling works.
