Bloodsport is a 1988 martial arts film directed by Newt Arnold and starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. The movie is loosely based on the true story of Frank Dux, a martial artist who fought in the illegal Kumite competition in Hong Kong.
The film follows the story of Frank Dux, a martial artist and former US Army Ranger who is inspired by the teachings of his master, Senzo Tanaka. Dux decides to enter the Kumite competition in Hong Kong and goes against the wishes of his commanding officer, who forbids him from leaving the country.
In Hong Kong, Dux meets a range of other martial artists who have travelled from all over the world to compete in the Kumite. Dux quickly establishes himself as a skilled fighter, but comes up against the intimidating and ruthless Chong Li, who has won the Kumite several times before.
Despite warnings from his fellow fighters, Dux faces off with Li in a brutal and gruelling fight. The two fighters trade blows, with Li using his strength and experience to try and overpower Dux. However, through sheer determination, Dux manages to come out on top and defeat Li.
The movie ends with Dux receiving a trophy for his victory and returning home to California, where he meets with his former commanding officer and tells him the story of his experiences in the Kumite.
