Bleach is a live-action movie adaptation of the popular manga and anime series of the same name. Ichigo Kurosaki, played by Sota Fukushi, is a high school student who can see ghosts. He lives with his father and two younger sisters in Karakura Town. One day, he meets Rukia Kuchiki, played by Hana Sugisaki, a God of Death, also known as a Soul Reaper.
Rukia has been sent to the human world to deal with a Hollow, a monster made from lost souls. She becomes injured during the fight and transfers her powers to Ichigo so that he can defeat the Hollow. However, Ichigo ends up absorbing all of Rukia's powers, leaving her powerless and stuck in the human world.
With no way to return to Soul Society, where the Soul Reapers reside, Rukia joins Ichigo in his mission to protect the living world from Hollows. They are accompanied by Ichigo's classmates, Chad and Orihime, as well as his childhood friend, Tatsuki.
As Ichigo and his friends battle against increasingly powerful Hollows, they also uncover a larger conspiracy involving the Soul Society and the mysterious Vandenreich. The movie follows the story arc of the manga and anime up until the Soul Society arc.
The film was directed by Shinsuke Sato and premiered in Japan in 2018. It was praised for its faithful adaptation of the source material and impressive visual effects.
