Blades of Glory is a 2007 sports comedy movie directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck. The movie stars Will Ferrell and Jon Heder as two ice-skaters who become partners in a pairs competition after being banned from competing separately following a brawl.
The movie begins with Jimmy MacElroy (Heder), a successful figure skater who has been trained by his adoptive father. However, he is overshadowed by his rival Chazz Michael Michaels (Ferrell), who is known for his sex appeal and unorthodox skating style. During a major competition, a fight breaks out between Chazz and Jimmy, and they are both banned from single skating for life.
Three years later, the two skaters find a loophole in the rules that allows them to compete as a pairs team. They enlist the help of coach and former skater, Coach (Craig T. Nelson), to train them for the upcoming World Winter Sports Games. Along the way, they encounter fierce competition from reigning champions Stranz and Fairchild Van Waldenberg (Will Arnett and Amy Poehler), who will stop at nothing to win.
As they prepare for the competition, Chazz and Jimmy learn to work together as a team, despite their differences and Chazz's ego. They also develop a bond with their coach and love interests, Jimmy's sister Katie (Jenna Fischer) and Chazz's stalker, Hector (Nick Swardson).
The movie climaxes with a hilarious and dramatic pairs skating routine performed by Chazz and Jimmy, which includes risky stunts and impressive lifts. They ultimately win the gold medal, but are disqualified for their performance due to a technicality. However, they decide to continue skating together as a pairs team, for the love of the sport and for their new found friendship.
