Blade: Trinity was released in 2004 and was the third installment in the Blade franchise. The movie was directed by David S. Goyer, marking his directorial debut, and starred Wesley Snipes as the titular character Blade.
The movie opens with a group of vampires discovering Blade's hideout and killing one of his allies. The FBI, who has been secretly watching Blade, captures him and brings him in for questioning. During his interrogation, Blade learns that the vampires are planning to release an ancient vampire named Drake (portrayed by Dominic Purcell) who is known as Dracula.
Blade manages to escape from FBI custody with the help of his new allies, Abigail (portrayed by Jessica Biel) and Hannibal King (portrayed by Ryan Reynolds), who are members of a vampire hunting organization known as the Nightstalkers. The trio seeks out Drake and discovers that he has been working with a vampire scientist named Danica Talos (portrayed by Parker Posey) to create a virus that will wipe out the human race and leave vampires as the dominant species.
Blade, Abigail, and Hannibal must not only defeat Drake and his vampire minions, but they must also stop the spread of the virus before it's too late. Along the way, they recruit the help of Blade's former ally, Whistler (portrayed Kris Kristofferson), who was believed to be dead.
The movie features plenty of action-packed fight scenes and introduces some new gadgets and weapons for Blade and the Nightstalkers to use. Blade: Trinity also delves deeper into Blade's backstory and his relationships with the people around him.
The movie received mixed reviews from critics, but was a modest box office success, grossing $128 million worldwide. Despite the film's moderate success, a fourth Blade movie has yet to be made.
