BlacKkKlansman is a 2018 biographical crime film directed by Spike Lee, based on the memoir Black Klansman by Ron Stallworth. The movie stars John David Washington as Stallworth and Adam Driver as Zimmerman. The plot follows Stallworth, who becomes the first African American detective at the Colorado Springs Police Department, as he sets out to infiltrate the local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan. He uses his real name and communicates with members of the organization over the phone and by mail, while Zimmerman impersonates him at in-person meetings. The investigation leads them to the charismatic David Duke, the Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. The tension and danger escalate as the activists try to prevent the Klan from carrying out its plan to cause violence at a civil rights rally. The film deals with themes of racism, police corruption, and white supremacy and received critical acclaim, winning the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival and the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
