Black Sunday is a 1977 action-thriller movie directed by John Frankenheimer. It stars Robert Shaw, Bruce Dern, and Marthe Keller. The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Harris.

The story takes place during the Super Bowl, where terrorists have planned to explode a blimp containing high explosives above the stadium during the game. Michael Lander (Dern), a Vietnam war veteran who has become disillusioned with the American government, is leading the terrorist operation.

Israeli Mossad agent, David Kabakov (Shaw), is tasked with stopping the attack. Kabakov lost his wife and children to terrorist attacks and is determined to prevent any further tragedies. He teams up with the FBI to track down Lander and his accomplices. Kabakov also works with a pilot named Robert Moshevsky (Fritz Weaver), who used to fly the blimp that Lander plans to use as a weapon.

The tension builds as Kabakov and Moshevsky try to stop the terrorist plot, while Lander and his team push forward with their plan, determined to make a statement against the American government.

The movie includes intense action scenes, such as Kabakov and Moshevsky racing to catch the blimp before it reaches the stadium, and Lander's team battling Kabakov and the FBI. The movie also explores themes of terrorism, nationalism, and the consequences of war.

Black Sunday received critical acclaim for its direction, performances, and screenplay. It was also praised for its realistic and accurate depiction of the Super Bowl and the security measures employed during the event.
